"Mystery Device" Can Unlock and Start Your Vehicle
Did you know that hackers/criminals can hijack the signal from your keyless entry system and use it to unlock your vehicle?
The method is called a Relay Attack. The devices used in the attacks are used to unlock doors and can also be used to start the engine. Keep in mind that this would only work on cars that have a keyless ignition system — one that allows a driver to start the car by pushing a button after the vehicle detects a key is present. The attack would not start cars with a keyed ignition that just have a click-to-unlock fob.
While your key fob may be safely in your house, your locked car could actually be wide open for tech-savvy crooks.
Take a look at these videos and learn how to protect yourself from these tech-savvy theives.

So how can you stop this from happening to you? Thankfully, it's pretty easy. For the device to be able to relay the signal from the legit fob, it first must be able to detect it inside the house. Keeping your key fob in a Faraday cage or sleeve — a box or pouch designed to block radio transmissions — would accomplish this. These items are available online, or you can make one yourself.
Basically, you just need to make sure that wherever you store your keys at night happens to include a Faraday cage or sleeve to prevent these thieves from making you their next victim.
