Yes, you read that correctly.  It isn't only happening on buses either, but I will just focus on buses for this post.  Don't believe me?  Check out what the Washington Post has to say about buses in Maryland: https://www.washingtonpost.com/local/md-politics/devices-on-public-buses-in-maryland-are-listening-to-private-conversations/2016/02/29/325e1d1e-df36-11e5-8d98-4b3d9215ade1_story.html?utm_term=.8cb6435566d0

You would be naive to believe that Maryland transit agencies are the only ones participating in this activity.  This activity is occurring on all forms of public transportation.

This isn't a new issue either, the Post reported on this back in 2012: https://www.washingtonpost.com/local/trafficandcommuting/on-buses-cameras-are-watching-and-listening/2012/12/02/65f234f2-1a28-11e2-aa6f-3b636fecb829_story.html?utm_term=.1fcafc8c271e

We have to start being mindful of our surroundings and protective of our devices and data.  In this day and age most of us rely on our mobile devices for everything including storing personal information.  Those with malicious intent who are armed with this knowledge, use it to their advantage and unfortunately, most people unknowingly provide access to their personal information on a daily basis.
